There are some sessions that just feel like a dream. The kind where the light wraps around you like a warm blanket, where laughter comes easily, and where every frame reminds you exactly why you picked up your camera in the first place.
That’s exactly how David & Brylee’s session felt for me. From the moment we planned this shoot, I knew it was going to be something truly special, but it went far beyond what I had imagined.
These two are sweet friends of ours. We all met in small group at church, and my husband and I actually got to witness their very first moments meeting each other. The early conversations. The subtle smiles. The beginning. And now… they’re getting married. Truly the coolest full-circle story.
So when they reached out after getting engaged and asked me to photograph this season for them? I about fell over.
She was dreaming up flower fields and somewhere she could run around barefoot… and here is where we landed. A beautiful field deep past Chapel Hill in North Carolina. This backdrop was the ultimate location for an engagement session. A photoshoot in hip-deep flowers while soaked in a golden glow.
Umm, yes please. Every time. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
I believe that photography isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. It’s about capturing the in-between moments that people often forget: that playful nudge, a whispered joke, feet barely touching the ground mid-step, the kind of smiles that come from deep inside. These photos aren’t just pretty pictures, they tell a story. These two had my heart melting the entire shoot. I was witnessing a beautiful life-story unfold right in front of me. Part of me wants to print this entire album, staple the edges, and turn it into a flip book. That’s what I aim for every photoshoot, a story that feels alive. The kind you can flip through years from now and step right back into the moment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear for our engagement session?
I'm a sucker for neutrals and soft colors. Coordinating outfits, without matching exactly, helps you both look cohesive and timeless. Avoid busy patterns or bright colors. I have a whole list of extra helpful tips when picking out the right outfit. And I actually love to be hands on in this area!! I am here to help you every step of the way. Where do you take engagement photos?
I love finding locations that feel natural and romantic: flower fields, open meadows, tall grasses, wooded trails, and anywhere that gives us that soft golden light. Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, North Carolina has so many hidden gems, and I always help my couples choose a spot that fits their vision (whether that’s barefoot in flowers or something a little more classic).
We feel awkward in front of the camera, will you help us pose?
YES!! Always! Posing is honestly the tricky part… but you’ve got me, and I’ve got you! We won’t be very posey… we laugh a lot, dance a bit and probably run “one more time”! and by the end of it, we will be besties! Out of breath! But besties.
Only me and you need to know about the bloopers!!!
When should we book our engagement session?
I recommend reaching out as soon as possible! Did you know that I include a free engagement session in my wedding collection?!
For weddings, it’s best to get in touch 6-12 months in advance, and for portraits or lifestyle sessions, 2-4 months is ideal. Especially during spring and fall when dates fill quickly. I am always happy to peek at my calendar and squeeze in a date if possible but to comfortably secure you spot, there is no such thing as too early!
